Audio Visual Technician 
Salary: £24,961 - £25,362 gross per annum

About the Role

Working within our Digital Creative Services group, the prime purpose of this role is to support and develop the conferencing requirements of all STFC departments based at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. You will require a good level of IT skills to support in-person events and the ability to set up and manage virtual events on a variety of cloud event platforms.

Large-format poster printing is a key function of the role, this will require the use of a printer Raster Image Processor  and PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat. Our Digital Services group is a shared capability function within STFC, so you will be expected to build good working relationships as part of this role.

We also support photography and video for STFC, so if you have an interest in photography there will be opportunity to develop this within the role.

You can expect opportunities to develop technical skills through increasingly autonomous projects whilst under the guidance and mentorship of senior team members. You will be a key part of a team who are supporting existing systems as well as designing and delivering upgraded/new systems to underpin business and scientific activities that benefit the entire organisation, all within a supportive team with a collaborative culture. 

Person Specification

We are looking for a self-motivated candidate who works well in a team and enjoys contributing to the group. The ability to maintain professionalism and work well under pressure, whilst maintaining good customer service, is key. 

Start date can be negotiated. 

Essential 

The following criteria will be assessed at shortlisting (S), at Interview (I) or both (S&I).

  • Excellent organisational skills (S&I)
  • The ability to safely lift and transport equipment weighing up to 25kg (I)
  • IT skills with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint (S&I)
  • Experience of using a Mac computer (S&I)
  • Good awareness of health and safety (S&I)
